Scott Base Pressure Ridges

It’s been years since Scott Base allowed Americans to walk on the seasonal sea ice near thier station, rich with impressive pressure ridges, seals, and sometimes penguins. About 8 years ago an American violated the Antarctic Treaty by harassing a seal on thier land and we have been forbidden ever since. Well, that guy is long gone from the program and the Kiwi’s decided to let us tour thier land on a trial basis. Our recreation department did an amazing job coordinating tour guides and van drivers together to create a tight opeation. Every 10 minutes a van of 10 started the tour, allowing for over 300 people to see the ridges in one day.
I am so grateful that I got to take part of this rare opportunity. Check out the photos, they are amazing and make great backgrounds.
