Murder Mystery!

Our very own lovely Karen set this up last year and I didn’t participate, but this year I got talked into it. My team consited to Nik, Kathy, Erik, Mike, Jeff and myself. We wore white labcoats and whatevery hats we could find to be the Inspector Gadgets. I hoped to run around town shooting my many gadgets at people, but the mystery was too fast paced for any goofing off! At the last minute we second guessed ourselves into picking the wrong murderer, but it was still an amazing, incredibly well planned out game to be a part of!

Penguins came to town, by the dozens! The open waters of McMurdo sound invited all these Adelies to stop by and check out us humans. It was phenomenal to see these cute little buggers! I couldn’t have asked for a better brithday present!

The hike along Hut Point Ridge is my favorite hike on station. We hiked this trail a couple of times and discovered the joy of doing the hike backwards! On the 7th, we finished the hike to a swarm of Adelies!

Ob Hill Loop Trail

As if there weren’t enough exciting things happening already this year, a new trail opened up for public travel! We decided to take it on New Years (what turned out to be a very cold day!) The trail circled around Ob Hill, rather than climbing up it, started about mid way up the mountain and then travelled down to the ice edge. Walking on the trail changes your perspective of the mountain. What was once thought to be a simple cone can now be seen to be much larger and much more interesting!
